Gérald Genta Squelette — White & Yellow Gold

A particularly rare expression of Gérald Genta’s watchmaking, this exceptional Squelette brings together two of the maison’s most distinctive elements: the architectural beauty of a fully openworked movement and the refined contrast of 18K yellow and white gold.

The movement is entirely exposed beneath the crystal, revealing a complex composition of finely pierced and engraved bridges, visible wheels and a traditionally finished balance. Every structural element becomes part of the aesthetic, transforming the mechanics into the dial itself. The result is an extraordinary sense of depth, with the warm tones of the gilded movement beautifully contrasted by the white-gold elements of the case.

Gérald Genta produced relatively small numbers of these highly individualistic skeleton watches, many of which were created in distinctive combinations of materials and finishes. Comparable examples are exceptionally scarce on the market, and we have not encountered another example identical to the present watch.

The two-tone construction is particularly characteristic of Genta’s approach to skeletonised timepieces, for which yellow and white gold were used to emphasize the architectural character of the case and movement. Auction records document the rarity of these creations, with other Gérald Genta two-tone skeleton references appearing only sporadically on the international market.

A fascinating piece from the Gérald Genta manufacture, representative of the independent Geneva maison’s golden period and of the extraordinary craftsmanship that distinguished its small-production timepieces.
