Audemars Piguet VZSS – 1950s – Yellow Gold

A rare and elegant Audemars Piguet VZSS dating from the 1950s, representing the refined and highly restrained design language of mid-century Audemars Piguet.

The yellow gold case frames an exceptionally balanced dial featuring applied Arabic numerals at 12, 2, 4, 8 and 10, alternating with faceted triangular hour markers. The layout is complemented by fine sector lines and a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock, creating a sophisticated and distinctly architectural appearance.

The original dial is signed “Audemars, Piguet Genève” and retains its clean mid-century typography and harmonious proportions. The combination of the warm yellow gold case, unusual hour-marker configuration and restrained sector design gives this VZSS a particularly distinctive character.

Produced during a period when Audemars Piguet maintained extremely limited production, vintage VZSS examples are rarely encountered, particularly in well-preserved original condition.
