Enicar Sherpa Diver 600 Super Compressor — 36mm — Early 1960s

A highly desirable and beautifully preserved Enicar Sherpa Diver 600, one of the most distinctive vintage dive watches produced by Enicar during the golden age of Swiss tool watches.

Dating to the early 1960s, this example features the iconic 36mm stainless steel EPSA Super Compressor case, a landmark construction developed by Ervin Piquerez S.A. and renowned for its ingenious pressure-activated sealing system, designed to increase water resistance as external pressure increased.

The watch features a superb glossy black dial with applied luminous hour markers, matching hands, a date aperture at 3 o’clock and the characteristic red-accented bidirectional diving bezel. The beautifully aged luminous material gives the watch an exceptional vintage character, while the original proportions of the 36mm case make it particularly elegant and wearable on the wrist.

Inside beats the automatic Enicar calibre AR 1145, a 17-jewel movement developed for the Sherpa family. The combination of the compact case, black diver’s dial, distinctive red bezel detail and Enicar’s Saturn logo makes the Diver 600 one of the most recognizable and collectible models of the Sherpa era.

The Sherpa Diver 600 has a particularly fascinating place in Enicar’s history. The model followed the earlier Seapearl 600 and was among the Enicar dive watches evaluated by the United States Navy Experimental Diving Unit in 1959, alongside watches from several of the most important names in Swiss dive-watch history.
